One of the things with this hobby that I really enjoy is reading through track planning books and individual track plans. I have my own ideas, but enjoy seeing the ideas of others too. One of these days I will learn a track planning program and try a few of my own! Now I am still using graph paper! One of my favourite books in my collection is Linn Westcott’s original 101 Track Plans, and a favourite track plans in that book is John Allen’s Time Saver. My club built it and we take it to our show and other shows to get the kids (of all ages) working it to gain interest. Once in a while we also have timed competitions amongst ourselves on a club night!

I think one of the best things is finding inspiration for your own layout, so old books with track plans are great to get some inspiration from!
