Just curious… 🙂 How many of you out there still put a caboose/van on the end of your trains, even with modern locomotives? I do have a couple of the Bachmann cars equipped with the EOT device, but I still love the look of a train with a caboose!

Earlier today, some of the members of my club visited a local nursing home. We took some of our portable layouts to display. We tool out HO Scale Time Saver, out 2×4 N Scale layout (we affectionately call our “mini n”), a few HO T-TRAK modules and out N Scale T-TRAK modules.

I can relate to, and understand the overwhelming desire for “ready to run”, but I really do miss the Athearn Blue Box kits! I love when I go to a show and find one that has never been started and get it!

One of the things with this hobby that I really enjoy is reading through track planning books and individual track plans. I have my own ideas, but enjoy seeing the ideas of others too. One of these days I will learn a track planning program and try a few of my own! Now I am still using graph paper! One of my favourite books in my collection…

The club I belong to, Pine Ridge Railroaders, in Oshawa, Ontario, recently moved into a new club house (since the church we were in was sold and we were evicted.) located in the basement of the administration building at Scouts Canada’s Camp Samac. If anyone is going to be in the Markham, Ontario area on Saturday (September 20th), the guys from Railview Historical Association are having a free open house from 10:00 – 3:00. They have a great, and large, layout of Southern Ontario. Worth the visit! At the same time, George’s Trains will be having their annual Customer Appreciation Sale…

I have somehow become the DCC guy at the store. I am getting to be proficient doing installations and using the LokProgrammer to get the sounds and the NCE for addressing and resetting decoders, etc. What I am lacking in is the more advanced programing. I have a customer who would like his headlights to dim for “rule 17”. …

Getting excited for the first club, Pine Ridge Railroaders (Oshawa, Ontario) , meeting after our summer break. We are in a new clubhouse and are well into building our new layouts. We are N and HO.
