Hello! I’m Andy, 62 years old and living about 30 mile west of Milwaukee, WI. While recovering from back surgery for 12 weeks I needed something to pass the time. While building a 1/400 scale model of the Titanic that I purchased in the 1990’s, and a 1/8 scale model car, a ’32 Ford Roadster that I bought in 1978, I would listen to vinyl records. One night while listening to music in my man cave it ocurred to me that I needed a train running below my computer monitors and discovered N Scale!

Yes, I found the rabbit hole of model railroading on the internet. Wow, things sure have changed from my Tyco Chatnooga Choo-Choo days of my youth. I gave all my HO railroad stuff to one of my boys about five years ago. The layout was worked on occaisionally, but was laying dormit in the laundry room. He has not done anything with it and I may have to pay a visit and repocess of few pieces.

At this moment there is a Kato Gevo Freight (Union Pacific) starter set in my closet waiting for Santa to place it under the Christmas Tree in 2026. I plan to run it on my desktop for a year and start buiding a shelf style layout sometime after that. In the mean time I’m listening to podcasts, watching You Tube videos and using social media sites to learn more about this hobby.
