| About me |
I am building an O Gauge layout called Belwardine. It is set in in 1955 and is somewhere in South West Shropshire on a fictional line (which was actually proposed in the early days but never got off the ground) which ran westwards from somewhere between Wolverhampton and Stourbridge, crossed the Severn near Bridgnorth and continued across Shropshire and into Wales. If built this line would have connected to other lines that became part of both the GWR and the LNWR. This somewhat vague history and location allows me to run ex GWR and ex LMS engines, as well as BR Standards, hauling mainly ex GWR passenger stock and a wide variety of goods vans and mineral wagons. Belwardine is a passing place on a single track line and is based loosely on some of the stations on the BR Western Region Severn Valley Branch, with elements from Bewdley, Arley, Highley and Hampton Loade, all conveniently part of the present day Severn Valley Railway which has enabled me to take a lot of photos, which I am using in the construction of my structures and buildings. Belwardine will also operate from time to time as a fictional heritage railway (very much inspired by the SVR) which will allow me to run anything I like, in particular much larger engines than would have been seen on a single track branch in BR days. The track is all laid, wired and ballasted and I am currently making good progress with the civil engineering structures, scenery and signalling and just making a start on the buildings. It is all DCC, I have an NCE ProCab system.
