• 3D model problem

Hi folks, new here at ModelTrainMedia. I’ve been working on some 3D printed coils steel cars i recently bought. The darned things are bows/warped. I have used the hot water trick as suggested by the manufacturer and clamped them to flat wood to try to flatten them. I let them stand for 2-3 days. But as soon as I unclamp them they spring back to the warped form. I’ve repeated this several times with minimal change, no success. Does anyone have a better way to get these darned things reasonably flat? Thanks, in advance, for any advice.

        • I guess if you want to fix them, you’re going to need something that will force them to hold shape. Would it work to glue-weld in some supports? I’m not sure if there’d be a way to do that which wouldn’t be noticeable, though.

          • Thanks. I have tried a small steel rid in the underframe and epoxied in place, the resin doesnt hold the epoxy and i still have a banana shape. I have also made relief cuts, which work somewhat but are ugly as heck and require a lot of fill work. I’m pretty disgusted with 3D rolling stock. Its too bad as some real different and specialized cars are out there.
