37411 Take Two
Some 14 or 15 years ago, I made my first attempt at a big new scary project: to weather one of my beloved and still very new Bachmann Class 37s. I picked the EWS version as my previous BR large logo 37410 just looked too good to do.
It was a pretty basic job and just utilised Tamiya powders to do. It went well I thought and as I hadn’t had experience before, I felt it best to not clear coat it, just because I felt redoing it would be no hassle.
Very recently, I had dug 37411 out of the box and, not sure how or why, but there had been some sort of oil or fluid leak. All over the inside of the box. Big problem.
So I cleaned it all up, fixed a dropped driveshaft as well and… well, whatever this liquid was, had stripped the weathering clean. Damn. Guess I’ll be redoing it now, then.
So, my usual suspects are:
– Mr Weathering liquid
– Tamiya powder
– Tamiya panel line accentuator
– Tamiya matte clear spray
I didn’t go as heavy as some British locos are known to do, just enough to give it a reasonable coating.

nice work. subtle yet enough there to notice and accentuate the details on the body and the running gear.
