Tarp
Make a very basic tarpaulin using some tissue paper and watercolour directly onto the wagon of your choice. This is perfectly fine and long lasting if your wagon lives on your layout. Not happy with the finish? Wet it and remove.

Sadly I never had a name for my second layout. Never got to finish it either before I had to move house.

Class 153
I regretfully let this one go some years ago. The Hornby Northern 153 was a very good and solid model.

I wanted a heavier build up of dirt on these as the loco scene can still tend towards the reasonably clean side. Freight locos go longer between washes and are ideal inspiration.

A loco my friend owns and had sent interstate to have weathered. A fantastic job, but I believe the weatherer no longer does this scale.

Duha steel plate, with a little extra oxidising added for a realistic look. Highly recommended product.
