Special Train Saturday
Hey friends!
I’m spending the day running test passes on the new layout. I am wanted to share a special train with the group, it’s one of my favorite models; Rapido’s TurboTrain in Early Amtrak paint scheme. I hope one day I can compliment this model with it’s northern sister, one in Canadian National paint scheme, love the history of both!
Upon first placing the TurboTrain on the layout it failed to make the grades, I was devastated, almost made a grown man cry, “Time to tear it apart and try again”, “If I can’t run a TurboTrain I don’t want to run ANY train”, “Why, oh why?!?!”, I thought to myself. I was trying to send the North American speed record holder up an Appalachian mountain, ridiculous I know, but it had to happen if I was going to continue with this layout. Then a moment of clarity came to me, add traction tires! I will admit adding traction tires to an N-scale wheel has been the most frustrating experience I’ve encountered thus far, but some cups of coffee later they were installed and the train could make a pass without human intervention! Wahoo!
