The Black & Blue
Hey friends!
Seems half the hobby lays ballast first then scenery and the other half does scenery then ballast…As a rookie, I opted to ballast first so I can scrape / cover ballast with scenery to make a uniform width of ballast…I’ve adhered one layer of Woodland Scenic’s Fine Gray Blend on about 50% of the layout before running out of Scenic Cement.
I used Woodland Scenic’s Coarse “Gray” ballast to simulate rip rap along the edge of the yard, but I don’t care for the color. It looks brown and pink to me. I will be replacing it with their medium Gray Talus this weekend.
I refer to this week’s train as The Black & Blue; some of my favorite cars. It’s a pair of MicroAce SD7’s in B&O paint, Athearn B&O 3-Bay Offset Hoopers, and some Atlas 40’ Chessie Boxcars.
Thanks for stopping by!
