Introduction
Hello All,
My name is Matt and I am the organization of this group.
I thought we should get to know each other better so here’s a few questions.
1.What do you enjoy most about 1970s railroading.
2. Do you have a favorite road from this era.
3. Do you model this era and if so what scale and prototype?Feel free to add any other interesting tidbits about yourself.

I’ll start
I really enjoy the variety during this time especially rolling stock. While I don’t have a favorite railroad, I do enjoy the bicentennial celebration which I model in HO.

Hey Matt,
Good to see you again!
I am actually not that familiar with the 1970s railroading era because I am only 21 years old 😅 But looking forward to see more in this group!
I do love older locomotives though especially diesel locomotives!
Greetings Oscar🙋♂️

Hi Matt!
Glad to see you utilizing Model Train Media. This has been an awesome platform for us all to connect on and share knowledge.
As I mentioned on an earlier post from this group. The Amtrak Rainbow Era of the early 70s is my favorite era. There’s so much history involved and these colorful trains that rain all over the US, I’m sure, were never identical with the way they used a mix of Amtrak cars and fallen flag cars together. I’ve only seen the set that ran in Pennsylvania made by Kato in N Scale which I do have and it’s awesome addition to my collection. Being primarily a Z Scale guy, AZL has not released a set specifically for those purposes, but with the amount of passenger cars we have it would be easy to piece one together.

I chose 1972 small town Kansas because of my layout size (36×80) and, being born in ’61, I remember the 70s fondly.

Good morning!
1. I model NE Pennsylvania and Northern New Jersey, I enjoy the variety of railroads and interchange traffic. And I enjoy modeling the unkempt and ‘hardship’ times of northeast railroads during the 1970’s. I also model PC Mail and Express trains. Plus I grew up during those times.
2. I primarily model 1968-1976 pre-Conrail; PC, EL, LV, CNJ, Reading, L&HR and Amtrak Rainbow Era (1971-1976), but also have run-through and ‘borrowed’ power from B&O, C&O, WM and N&W. I also have a small Conrail and Amtrak Phase III fleet, 1976-1980.
3. Yes, primarily N-Scale, but also some HO-Scale (Conrail 1976-1980), O-Scale (Scale O (Conrail 1976-1980) and Lionel (Christmas trains)) and a few pieces of Z-Scale (Conrail 1976-1980).
