I tore down my first layout to recarpet the house 15 years ago. This is my second layout. The table is 3′ x 8′.

I am. I have rigid foam that I will be using.
Going to wire the track later today to check out continuity before I glue down track and start landscaping.
I’ve moved the left side of the table in a bit to accommodate hills and structures.

Good for you, welcome back, and it looks like a well-built foundation! Have you considered going ahead with a layer of insulating foam? It’s not much and opens up the option of some elevation or water features. I am working on my first layout as well and it’s the one thing I wish I could go back and do, especially now that the temperature changes means checking joins again now that the cold weather has made the track shift a little.

The table was covered in 1x3x8 foam. It was painted brown.
