Like a game of Tetris, everything fell together. I had the two elevations when I realised that I could add a third line to mimic Allen’s only my version is a dummy track and modelled as being restored from dormancy.

Foam , particularly sponge. I bought a big bag of recycled foam which is just diced up off cuts of various shades. You can used car wash sponges.
