I was born in Australia and grew up in mainly in New Zealand and at the age of 13 we went to visit my stepfather’s family in the UK. I remember seeing a Class 08 shunter. It blew me away. I had never seen a shunter that big in my life. In NZ the shunters I saw in my home town were significantly smaller and ran on narrower gauge track than British standard gauge.
