This Copper Range steel rock hopper was built in the 1910s by Western Steel Car & Foundry Co as the second batch of 75 total cars. These were often used to haul stamp sand from the mills to dump sites. Their arch bar trucks were retained through their entire life, meaning they could not leave the Copper Range after 1939.

This model is built from a Bowser PRR H22A kit, as described in the CopperRange.com article from Kevin Musser.

The article gets a pretty decent model of the car, but recent photos have surfaced showing far better detail on the end supports. I don’t have plans to modify this one further, but I do have another one to build, and will be changing the supports to match the prototype more accurately.
