I finally managed to track down a very hard to find model in a place I never expected to find it in.
In 2015, Norfolk Southern restored SD40 3170 to it’s original Southern Railway scheme. It was later donated to the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum in Chattanooga TN where it can be found today.
This was the very first SD40 built for the…- View more comments

The last of the Cowls.
BC Rail C40-8M 4609, as of the time of this posting, is the very last of it’s kind on the roster of Canadian National Railway.
CN merged with BC Rail in 2004, adding these full body cowl Dash-8’s to their fleet and using them system wide.At the beginning part of this decade, the units began to be retired and scrapped due…

New loco came about a week ago!
It’s no Big Boy, but certainly is big!
This was going for way less than what a Broadway LTD model would cost (lrobs even if it was spares), and this engine has not only 1 or 2 parts missing, but is also infected with Mazak-rot or Zinc-rot.
The loco itself seems to be ok, nothing major that I can see right now,…

Two more sections are up. They’re not connected yet, and I’m not redoing the wiring until I get all sections connected. But it’s satisfying to see it starting to come together and put a couple of cars on. Chief Engineer Lane Tyson-Rales sure has his work cut out for him.

Not a whole lot going on modeling wise over the last couple weeks. Hoping to change that in the next few weeks. Projects on the workbench and the urge to run some trains has the basement calling my name!
Happy Modeling everyone!

Amtrak’s new Phase VII scheme looks good on just about anything it touches it seems.
Here we see it on GP38-3 740, a new run from Atlas with DCC and ESU Loksound.
These units were rebuilt by Progress Rail from ex-Conrail GP38’s. While Amtrak mainly uses them for Maintenance of Way and yard switching duties in the north east, Chicago and the… -

VIA Rail train number 1, the Canadian, with a colorful quartet of F40PH-2D’s for power. These were taken last year at the TVMRi club’s open house on Founders Day Weekend at the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum.
When I started modeling Canadian railways it was a goal of mine to have this impressive cross country train in my fleet.Three of the…
