• Community update & your feedback needed!

      Dear members,

As many of you know, I’m constantly working to make Model Train Media clearer, more active, and more enjoyable to use. To do that, I regularly evaluate which parts of the platform truly add value to the community — and which parts might be simplified or improved.

That brings me to an important question I’d like your input on:

👉 The forum section of the platform

At the moment, we see that most interaction happens in:

      • the main feed (posts, comments, updates)

      • groups (topic-focused, structured, and easy to follow)

The forum is used far less and, for some members, can feel confusing alongside the feed and groups. By removing the forum and fully focusing on groups + feed, we could:

      • make the platform more intuitive

      • centralize discussions

      • increase engagement and visibility

      • better align with the upcoming app experience

However, this is not a decision I want to make alone. Model Train Media is something we are building together.

Please feel free to leave a comment explaining your choice. Why do you use (or not use) the forum? What works well for you? What doesn’t?

Thank you for helping shape the future of Model Train Media — your feedback matters! 🚂💬

      • I personally think that maybe focussing on groups and feeds is smarter because that is really what makes Model Train Media different. The focus on easy sharing of pictures of your own layout and information from others.

When removing forums it will be more clear for new members to know where they can ask there question. Now it can be confusing to have both.

Looking forward to hear your thoughts to see how we can improve this platform!

        • I’ll be honest, I had completely forgot about the Forum existing & seeing that most post on there are one a month or once every other week it does seem fairly underused. If anything a forum can be converted into “Clubs” kind of like how some gaming communities are divvied up. As it stands I’d say the Forum in it’s current state could be removed to further flesh out things out on the active side, looking forward to more updates. o7

          • Keep the forum as it is as an option. Nothing wrong with having more information to be shared. While I’m sure most of us rely on the feed and groups, lets try to promote the forum even more with the more precise info we may all be looking for.

            • To add my 2 cents. There is a forums section?!?

              • If ‘Forums’ aren’t heavily used, by removing it, more focus can be placed on improving the ‘Groups and Feeds’ areas.

                • The forum is covered by the different groups, so to me seems a double up.
