Track Work- Roundhouse Curve
One of the major design features of the yard is the 180-degree curve that will eventually run around the roundhouse. There is no roundhouse yet, but I have nick-named it Roundhouse curve nonetheless.
I soldered 2 full-length (30″) sections of flex track together for each of the 3 tracks going around the curve. The first piece of track, which is part of the outer Mainline (also called Main 2), went down on December 9th.
The track for Main 1 (the inner mainline) went down on December 10th.
The inner loop of Roundhouse curve is the reverse loop, and it went down a couple days later, on December 12th. The radii for each of the tracks is as follows:
-Main 2 (outer): 14.5 inches.
-Main 1 (middle): 12.9 inches.
-Reverse Loop (Inner): 11.5 inches.
The last image shows my new Kato SD40-2 rounding the curve.
