Hope you’re enjoying your trains today!

Took a break from modeling and spent some time running trains and imagining how this fictitious town would appear at the foothills of Appalachia. I’ve placed 2″ blue painter’s tape to simulate a two lane road through town; it transitions into a gravel road providing access to the hillside drive-in movie (theater). The yellow index cards represent parking, I’ve always enjoyed the feel of walking through downtown, so no street parking / parking meters allowed! The green index cards represent commercial space; offices, hospitality, shopping, etc. The blue index cards represent green space / park space; placement of the large town square in the middle should provide nice viewing of the buildings. i.e. see more building fronts than rears / less obstructions. I don’t plan on having any residential buildings in town, I might put a few cabins on the mountain for the “city folk” who have a weekend home, but will rely on apartments above the shops for most of the local residents. Again, focus is tourism, those fun towns you might take the train to visit!

      Have a great weekend!
