• My first post

I thought I would post this photo of a section of my layout from a few weeks ago. It sort of summarises the sort of layout I am building, namely:

      • Right angled end to end configuration, about 5 metres long in total.
      • O Gauge (1:45 scale)
      • German railways (DB) Era III, vaguely around mid 1970s somewhere near Dortmund
      • Fictitious mainly industrial location with branch line small station at one end. It had once been a through line, but a large bridge over a nearby valley was destroyed in WWII and level of traffic didn’t justify rebuilding it.
      • Uses DCC control via a Roco z21 Start connected to a Fleischmann multiMAUS and Roco wi-fi router. The z21 and multiMAUS were used on my previous OO layout, but the multiMAUS has now been superseded by the Z21 App on an old iPad.
      • All point motors are Cobalt IP digital controlled from the Z21 App.
      • Rolling stock is mainly from Lenz and mainly pre-owned apart from the Köf II and a couple of wagons that came with the Lenz digital starter set. Pre-owned wagons are not much cheaper than new, but the current Lenz Era III is a bit limited.

This is actually my second attempt at this layout. Construction of the first one was halted due to essential redecorating of the modellbahnkeller. Initially it was going to be just a largish shunting layout, hence the name. Then when I restarted I ripped everything up and started again and this time added a station.
