This week’s video is the first of three parts from the Preston Model Railway Exhibition for 2026 which was organised by the Preston & District Model Railway Society.
In this part we feature 5 layouts including a small village between Buxton and Chapel-en-le-Frith with a quarry and station around the 1970s and 80s, a Tiverton and North Devon Railway station between 1958 and 1969, a Somerset and Dorset terminus with a long excursion platform, a modern image layout set in the Lancashire town from Charles Dickens’ novel ‘Hard Times’ and the route from Wath to Manchester over Woodhead with 1,500v electrification and bankers to climb the 1 in 40 incline in the early 1950s.
