👋 Let’s Get to Know Each Other – Introduce Yourself!
I’m Oscar, the founder of Model Train Media.
I’m 20 years old and I started this platform to bring model train lovers together — not just to post photos, but to really connect with each other.
Let me kick it off:
– My favorite scale: N scale
– What I love most: Creating realistic scenery and then watching the train come to life in that little world.
– Project I’m working on: Restoring a Noch winter layout and building new dioramas (more on that soon!)
————————————–
Now it’s your turn!👉 Tell us:
-
What scale do you model in?
-
What do you enjoy most about the hobby?
-
Are you working on a project right now?
And if you see someone with a similar interest — leave a comment or say hi!
Let’s start turning this community into a place where real model train friendships are made.Excited to hear your stories!

Love the website! As a software developer, I am impressed by how far you have taken this.
Would there be any interest in collaborating with the Model Train People on Discord?– My favorite scale: N scale
– What I love most: Mostly collecting Danish themed rolling stock but running my trains on the local club layout.
– Project I’m working on: Converting old Kato TGV to DCC, repainting some double-decker passenger cars to the Danish colors and creating a Danish train set in T scale (1:450)

@BananaTie Thanks for the compliments, it is still the beginning the end goal is to make sure all model train enthusiasts around the world are happy to use model train media to meet new friends and share a lot of passion for the same hobby!
Ofcourse I would be interested in working together with other communities on other platforms, I dont hope to replace them but I just hope this could be complementary to their existing communities!
Nice project, looking forward to see your posts about painting the Danish train set, I actually do not know a lot about Danish trains!
Greetings Oscar

I’m Andrew, and I’m 52. I got my first wooden set when I was 4 and have been hooked ever since!
I model in N and HO, but also have Lionel for under the Christmas Tree
I most enjoy doing the track work and wiring.
Right now I am working on a new layout at our club’s new clubhouse, as well as some T-TRAK modules at home in both N and HO
1-
@Andrew Cool Andrew, so you have been in the space for a long period now already😉 The hobby did change a lot. For me I was struggling to always get the wiring right and trackwork. If I have any questions I know who to ask now haha!

Hi I’m Peter, 67 Y/O. Model mostly HO And dabbling in O scales. I like to model trains that have a special meaning to me, like ones that I have ridden on or lived near and watched. My current special project is the planning of putting together of the layout to incorporate the different trains in a cohesive fashion from NYC and Alaska.
2-
@casey-jones Nice Peter, HO is actually the scale that my grandfather also had. Also a nice project you did share a picture of your layout right?
-
@Modeltrainmedia I have only temp layouts. I need to do new flooring before I can start a more permanent layout

My name is Nicholas, I am 24 years old and I am a life long railfan. My passion for railroading all started in the beginning of my existence with my influencing factors of introduction being growing up on the South Side of Chicago around busy rail lines, the wooden trains, and Thomas the Train. Throughout my later single digit aged childhood is when I started getting extremely serious into HO-Scale model railroading and starting in my early teenage years I started getting into creating railroad and model railroad related content and am owner and operator of the YouTube channel Metra MP36 407 (Ferrocarril Chicago). As I’ve gotten older I started getting involved volunteering at organizations including the Illinois Railway Museum, Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum, and Historic Pullman Foundation/National Park on Chicago’s South Side. I am now in the early stages of my railroad career, currently working as an onboard service train attendant for Amtrak, my regular routes including the California Zephyr, the Empire Builder, and the Texas Eagle. The way I heard about Model Train Media is through my favorite model railroad YouTuber I follow, The DIY & Digital Railroad. My current projects include my HO-Scale layout of Chicago’s South Side/Calumet Region, a bunch of custom DCC/sound projects, freight cars with graffiti, a few completely custom rolling stock projects, lots of renumbering and decal work, and too many open projects that I just need to finish already! 😂

@Metra407 Another young model train enthusiast 🙂 I will follow your youtube nice to see some train content on there aswell. Looking forward to see all of your posts aswell about your own train layout and other projects!
Nice to have you on board, greetings Oscar🙋♂️

@Modeltrainmedia Thank you very much! I am very excited to see where this platform goes. I know it’s primarily a website as of right now. Have you considered making this into a mobile app as well?

I’m more shocked that you’re 20 years old and created this website, I’m impressed

@NScaleProductions Thanks hahah it is all possible in today’s world, I really hope to create a platform where the train fans are the boss and not some commercial party who tries to push weird algorithms and way to much advertising.
I will promise to always listen to the community to see where it can improve and hopefully we can build a great platform together!😁
Greetings Oscar🙋♂️

@Metra407 Yes it is my goal to create an app as soon as possible, unfortunately I need to create a small income stream in order to pay for the app. That is what I am working on very hard now!
-
@Modeltrainmedia That is awesome. Regarding a lot of software development, I am rather naive and am not familiar with how things work, but everything you have done and are working on, that is true dedication. Also, question. Would it be any help to you if I tried spreading the word about Model Train Media’s existence, such as if I were to promote it on my YouTube channel? I truly admire and appreciate what you are doing here and I am very excited and hopeful regarding the success of this platform. Additionally, if you don’t mind me sharing an idea that I think would make this platform even better if you haven’t considered already, I think it would be absolutely tremendous if this platform could also be designed to draw modelers from other parts of the world and be user-friendly for multiple different languages. I see so many HO-Scale modelers in Mexico and N-Scale modelers in Japan who do such beautiful work, taking modeling to the next level.
1-
@Metra407 Yes ofcourse you can make a video about Model Train Media, actually that is really what I also need the community for. I hope we can grow this together in order to make sure it can stay alive. And about getting members from all over the world, that is really the end goal to create such a friendly space where it is possible to translate the site in all those languages so everybody can understand and enjoy the platform.
However I first need to make sure I can generate some income so I can provide the app. That is really the first thing on my priority list together with improving the user experience so everybody can use the platform even better!
Thanks for thinking with me I really appriciate that and together we can build the platform where the hobbyists are the boss😁

Hello from Long Island NY. I am 53 YO and i also found out about this site from Jimmy at DIY & Digital. I have mostly HO scale, although i do have some N and G scale, although i have decided G is too much work to upkeep. My current project is that i completely tore down my layout in Feb (shocker i know, who does that) and am slowly rebuilding it again. I model no era specifically, just what makes me and the grand kids happiest. I really do hope this site grows into something special, well, its already special, but i hope it grows! Thank you for making the space and allowing us to be a part of it!

@Tr0ubl3d0n3 Welcome!
So you have all the scales 😀 Also a great project to slowly rebuild your layout! I will also be trying to start a new series where I will be restoring an old Noch layout. It is always great to start a new project, looking forward to see your updates on the platform when you share it with the community!
And thanks for being part of Model Train Media
Greetings Oscar🙋♂️

Hello, I’m Doug, I live in Dallas, TX and I’ve been in N Scale for about 45 years. My modeling era is 1950s/first generation diesel and my favorite roads are CNW, MILW, NKP, NYC, NH, and SAL. I’m also interested in railroad history and collecting books and other information on railroad subjects. I’ve been trying to work on a shelf type switching layout but for a few years I’ve mostly been accumulating locomotives and rolling stock to fit with the above era and road names.

@NScale_Doug Welcome to the community Doug, Nice to see that you are running a specific era together with the appropriate Loco,s and rolling stock. Looking forward to see your future posts!
Thanks for being part of Model Train Media

I’m Matt, I’m 28 doing HO and a little OO. Currently I’m starting to work on JMRI for my club, The Crescent City Model Railroad Club. I enjoy operations the most especially switching and running locals.

@LN1975 Hi Matt,
Good to see you again, so you like running layouts more then building the scenery?
28 also a bit of a youngster within the train community😁

@Metra407 Thanks a lot great video I really appriciate the support and together we can fine tune this platform to the needs of our hobby! Really looking forward to all the improvements in the future. And thanks again for your support and being part of this awesome growing community!😁

I just thought of an idea for this platform that I think would be awesome. The ability to do individual calls, conference calls, live streams, and direct messaging for people to connect and share knowledge and assist with projects.

Hello, I’m Tim, the owner of US Z Scale. I’m authorized dealer for American Z Line also carrying Full Throttle, Rokuhan, and other products. I also model in all different scales. I currently have and HO Scale project I’m working on, and I’m putting together an N Scale project as well.
My favorite part of model railroading is doing it together with others. Whether it be comparing projects, teaching someone about it, or being taught how to do something, I’m all about this hobby and Model Train Media makes it even more enjoyable!
1-
@US_Z_Scale Good to see you Tim,
And thanks for being a part of this great community already for quite some time! And nice to hear that this platform helps with connecting and inspiration!
Looking forward to all of your future updates!
