Recreating Real Life Trains!
Last year, halfway home from camp, I spotted a CN freight train rolling down the rails. This was the first time I had ever seen one and I was honestly surprised that they came through Western Pennsylvania. Fortunately for me, AZL has almost everything I need to recreate that train as I saw it. These were SD70M-2 diesels pulling a string of Ortner Hoppers down line. We had 3 CN SD70M-2s including the GTW Heritage Unit. I’m planning a layout to accommodate longer trains and I plan on picking up several more of these Ortner Hoppers to recreate that moment. I’m shooting for at least a 20 car train!
(The heritage unit wasn’t what I saw that day, but I figured since it’s an SD70M-2 and a heritage unit that I would add it to this train.)

You would be surprised where trains end up now a days. I have seen CP and FerroMex in Newark N.J.

@casey-jones that’s incredible! Talk about being out of range! Hehe. It’s definitely neat when you see something out of the ordinary. It’s mostly just Norfolk Southern & CSX here in Pittsburgh. We also have a short-line called Carload Express AVR. I’ve seen a lot of those 3.

Yes back in the day they never left their trackage. The same held true for rolling stock. Now they just swap crews and keep om going.
