Hiya!
Welcome to the group! I figured It was a matter of time until someone started a group on the subject, so why not start one now?
I understand that some modellers would turn their nose up at something like Thomas or anything connected to him. But I feel like we live in a time where that interest is slowly starting to become…

Where do you buy your British styled buildings?

Island of Sodor Modelling 7 months agoHi everyone, I recently got a Hornby Oliver for free but it needs some work to put right.
I’ll be taking what parts I need from an old Dapol 14xx, as it’s the same tooling, and likely repainting the green due to sun damage but it’ll still need a face.
Hoping that someone might have a spare or know where I can source an alternative eg 3d print…

Hey everyone, I’m wanting to build a N scale layout of Sodor, but I’m US based and struggling to find anything besides US and European buildings. Is there anywhere to buy British building kits? Or is there something I can do to old European buildings to make them look correct?

Island of Sodor Modelling 7 months agoInitially I though of grinding off the face of the model. Kinda glad I didn’t do that (despite already trimming off the edge of the nose). It was better to cut out the face entirely, which meant more creative freedom on the back of the loco, and also I have a new face!

Thomas is praised by The Fat Controller for being “really useful” on my O gauge layout approximately 30 years ago.
Thomas was a borrowed model that I used at an exhibition. He was an Ertl body on a Pola-Maxi chassis.- View more comments

It had to be done… I couldn’t make a little green saddle tank and ‘not’ turn it into a wooly catapillar. Some people think Percy’s based on ‘Trojan’ or another Avonside saddle tank right?
