| About me |
Hello. I fully retired from the trades in 2017, handy with my hands and tools. Disabled veteran of the USAF, 1977-’83. Prior to my service, I was in the Scouts and the Civil Air Patrol. My first duty station was Eielson AFB, AK. Then onto McChord AFB, WA. Moved to Madison, WI and have been here since. Married 43 years, 2 daughters and 1 grand-daughter so far.
In 1985, I delved into r/c airplanes, buggies and trains. Mostly Milwaukee Road n-scale and Alaska. Tried z-scale, vision not too good anymore. Over 40 engines and 200 rolling stock. Some brass, and starting a Noch HO/N pre-formed layout. I have some HO brass cars. I really do enjoy hobbies. During the summer months, the wife and I travel around WI and the UP of MI with our Yamaha 4-seater UTV for mini-vacations.
Wife’s father and uncle worked for the Milwaukee Rd. after WWII. Madison, WI, at one time, had four or more different railroads, along with 7 turntables. 6 blocks south from the Capitol, a depot has been renovated with a static display of MR engine and cars, one of which is used to host parties. A “Varsity” special ran from Chicago to Madison in the middle of a major street, from 1930 to 1971 for sporting events.
I’m also a ham radio operator, KD9WNV. I have a you tube channel, UTV Ham KD9WNV, Â mostly a vlog about where we go and hobbies. I’m also on FB.
