Scratch-built Track Switches on the WKR N-scale Layout
The Track Gang on the WKR recently scratch-built a couple of curved switches for a Friend’s layout. The same procedures constructed every switch on the WKR. (Pic 1) Paper templates from Fasttrax were used. (Pic 2) A close view of the frog area. (Pic 3) completed frog with guard rails. (Pic 4) the completed switch.

Scratch-built Safety Rail System on the WKR N-scale Layout
Back in November 2025, the Scenery Crew of the Western Kansas Rails (WKR) layout completed scratch-building from brass a safety rail system for the Pride Ag Co-Op grain elevator. A wire is connected from the rail system to the back of the workers safety harness which allows the employee to walk the tops of the cars opening or closing hatches…

Print Your Own Tools
One of the things that we tested with our new Bambu Lab P1S at work was various tools and aids. One of these was a bench vice. Okay, it’s never going to be engineering quality, printed in plastic, but as a travel vice for modelling, it’s just about perfect!
