Need a Second Set of Eyes on This Weathering Project
This is my first attempt at weathering a locomotive, using CSX ES44AH #3077 as inspiration. I’ve spent a lot of time comparing it to prototype photos, and while I think it’s heading in the right direction, something still feels just slightly off to me.
The problem is I’m not experienced enough with locomotive weathering to put my finger on exactly what it is. I don’t think it’s finished yet, but at the same time I don’t want to keep adding more and end up overdoing it.
I’m posting the prototype photos alongside the model to get some outside opinions. Does anything stand out to you? Is there something missing, or am I just at the point where I’ve been staring at it for too long? I’d appreciate any thoughts from those with more weathering experience than I have.

IMHO you’ve been staring at it too long. Comparing it tot the prototype I’d say you nailed it.

@KBSRGuy Thanks, I appreciate it. I really wasn’t sure if I was just overthinking it or if there was actually something missing. I’m definitely open to feedback since this is my first locomotive. I’ve weathered freight cars before and feel like I’ve gotten pretty decent at those, but locomotives make me a lot more nervous because it’s easier to overdo them
