I regretfully let this one go some years ago. The Hornby Northern 153 was a very good and solid model.

I wanted a heavier build up of dirt on these as the loco scene can still tend towards the reasonably clean side. Freight locos go longer between washes and are ideal inspiration.

A loco my friend owns and had sent interstate to have weathered. A fantastic job, but I believe the weatherer no longer does this scale.

Weathering 7 months agoCarbolic acid wagons accumulate rust in the harsh environment. Discolouration is a regular occurance.

Weathering 7 months agoCement wagons accumulate dust where the loading and unloading takes place. The nature of such loads means cleaning is near impossible without a full refresh.

Weathering 7 months agoDiesel-hydraulics are always a good go to when you want a heavier set of colours on your locos.
The DD54 is a classic example of early tech getting coated in oil and soot.
