Question about lights not working on older HO scale Kato SD45
Hello, i purchased on Ebay an old SD45 HO scale locomotive. It runs well except the lights don’t work. They blink on and go off when the locomotive moves. I use a MRC Tech 6 power pack.
I took the shell off to check the light board and I discovered it has a Digitrax Dn135 decoder. Didn’t know that when i bought it! Quite a surprise.
So I…

Vintage Kato Erie Lackawanna Gp35
During the ice storm I enjoyed placing some handrails on a vintage Erie Lackawanna Kato Gp35 I picked up off Ebay last fall . Although it’s old, it’s a good runner!

Question about good resources to have to learn DCC??
Hello, besides being a part of a model railroad club–which isn’t an option where i live at this moment–what are some good resources to help someone become more versed in the finer points of DCC? For example, I see Model Railroader has some reference books, some new, some older.
Thanks!

What are good colors for dirty washes on locomotives and freight cars??
Hello, quick question on what colors do you all use if you do the acrylic washes on a locomotive and freight cars?
I am thinking the colors you would find at Hobby Lobby that are relatively cheap. Colors for grime, dirt, rust??, etc.
The budget is tight!
Thanks in advance!

Curiosity/Questions about Z scale
Just wondering, but if one wants to get just a workable oval layout in Z Scale, what kind of track is recommended?? Also, can Z Scale run on normal DC power packs used for HO??
I think it would be cool to build an Z Scale layout/diorama for an RDC car to drive around in the country side.
Thank you in advance. Just getting ideas for the future.

Atlas Kato C425 #2457 is still running strong after all these years!
Had this locomotive since the 1980’s. Broke the OEM railings back in the 2000’s. Got replacements off Ebay in 2024 and painted them. Still one of my favorite Erie Lackawanna locomotives!

Hello fellow modelers!
Thank you, Jimmy, for sharing this on your YouTube channel! It is nice to have a friendly place to enjoy model trains with others.
I model a HO scale, small fictional historical freelance Conrail layout in the late seventies, in an imaginary place called West Ramapo, somewhere in northwestern NJ. Besides Conrail, I also like the Erie…
